Canvas World 2025. GR VerbArt
Hello! Today, we will immerse ourselves in the world of Dmitry Alexandrovich Borovoy—an artist who, through his works, strives to awaken creative processes within viewers, preserve their analytical abilities, and maintain the diversity of their perspective. Dmitry Borovoy was born in 1976 and lived until the age of 12 in the very heart of St. Petersburg—on Nevsky Prospect. He believes that the cultural capital influenced his creative nature, although this influence did not manifest immediately. The artist's life is divided into «before» and «after.» Before 2012, it was about studies, work, and family. But starting in 2012, poetic lines began to emerge in Dmitry's life. In 2021, in collaboration with Mikhail Sapego, he published a poetry collection titled «Reflection,» followed a year later by the collection «Tear.» However, Dmitry found communicating with the audience only through poetry insufficient, and he picked up a paintbrush. Initially, Borovoy exhibited more classical paintings at the Art Center «Mitki» under the direction of Dmitry Shagin. But rather quickly, his work became enveloped in abstraction. Dmitry's works began to be featured in catalogs, and he started participating in solo exhibitions and festivals at the gallery «Nash XXI Vek» (Our 21st Century), which has been awarded the gold medal of the International Academy of Modern Arts (IAMA). During his relatively short career, the artist has created 8 sculptural installations, which are located on the grounds of the Artists' Residence at this gallery. Borovoy's work is characterized by abstract minimalism, where every line and color carries specific symbolism and together they form a unified composition. The artist sees in minimalism not only freedom for himself but also freedom for the viewer—the opportunity to interpret what they see based on their own internal perceptions. One of Dmitry's goals is not merely to please the eye but to engage the viewer's entire brain. His works are a kind of puzzle and riddle in a language that is initially unfamiliar. Borovoy employs different levels of complexity and depth in his compositions: some works he classifies as «school-level"—they can be understood almost at first glance, while others require deep study and prolonged contemplation. Currently, Dmitry has launched a large-scale project—the series «Moments… Destinies… Life,» which comprises over three and a half thousand elements. The artist jokes that completing it will require all the time until the end of his days. Dmitry Borovoy's exhibition is an invitation to deep reflection, to a dialogue with art that makes one ponder many things and see something new and unexpected in familiar objects. We invite you to immerse yourself in the unique world of the artist and discover the depth of his philosophical reflections
